FAQ
No. Google Gemini has a free tier that works great with Wisp: you paste a free key from Google AI Studio and you’re done. You can also use your own OpenAI key (you pay OpenAI per use) or run a model completely offline with Ollama or LM Studio.
Wisp isn’t in Apple’s paid developer program yet, so macOS asks you to confirm once: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. It takes about 30 seconds and the steps come with your download. After that it opens like any other app.
Only the rectangle you drag, and only when you press the shortcut. It sends that picture plus the text it recognized on your Mac to the AI you picked, or to nobody if you use a local model. You can switch image sending off so only the text is sent.
Lifetime is $15 once and yours forever, updates included. Monthly is $2.99 with a 7-day free trial, which is nice if you want to try it first. Both unlock the exact same app.
Gumroad emails you the download and a license key. Drag Wisp into Applications, open it, paste your license key and your AI key, and you’re set.
